10 Ways to Say “I Love You” Without Actually Saying It

Brooke Collits
Actions speak incomparably louder than words. Doing something simple, yet original and adorable every once in a while will do a better job of proving your feelings to your significant other than screaming "I love you" from the top of your lungs. Here are 10 ways to say "I love you" without actually saying these three words.

Leave a Note

A surprise note that you leave for your loved one before you go to university or to work in the morning won't fail to make their whole day brighter and show them how much you love them. You can write "I love you" or even something as simple as "Have a great day". Add a cute little drawing, and you'll have your significant other smiling all day long.

Give Space

When you truly love someone, it's natural to want to spend as much time with that person as you possibly can. Don't make a scene when your partner wants to go to a bar or to the movies with friends. Let them relax and have some fun time, while you stay home and take care of the housework.

Give Little Gifts

Remember that you don't have to wait until Christmas, your anniversary, or your loved one's birthday to give them a gift. When you're in a shop and spot something that reminds you of your significant other. It might be a ring with a lab-grown diamond, or favorite chocolate bar, even something that they've told you about recently.

Do Chores

If your significant other is the one who does most of the work around the house, they'll really appreciate it your help, especially on a day when they're especially tired. Do the dishes or take out the trash: it won't be difficult for you but it will demonstrate just how much you're willing to do for your loved one.

Hug

Always greet your loved one with a hug and a kiss, and do the same when they leave. Take their hand when you're walking on the street together. These tiny gestures of physical affection don't have to lead to anything more: just as they are, they'll make your significant other feel loved, even though you aren't saying anything.

Make Dinner

That works especially well if you aren't much of a cook because it'll show your significant other that, even though you can't really cook, you did your best just for them. Sometimes just a cup of tea or coffee that you bring them to bed or when you notice that they're feeling down will be just what's needed.

Get to Know Their Friends

Maybe you think that their friends are dumb and that your friends are a million times better and funnier. Maybe you're right. Still, these are the people that your loved one chose to have in their life, and they are important to them. Even if you still think that they're stupid, your genuine effort will indicate your love for your partner.

Be Kind

Do you remember how much attention and affection you gave to your significant other when you've just met them? You're probably doing less now that you're dating. Treat your partner as if you're only getting to know them and trying to get them to like you. Give compliments, smile, make eye contact, and don't get angry over something that can be easily fixed.

Compromise

Compromising will show your partner that you really want them to be happy, even if it means that you yourself will have to do something you aren't particularly a fan of. In addition, compromising shows that your relationship is more important to you than the thing you're arguing over.

Say What You Feel

Instead of simply stating that you love them, say what it is that you love about them: their beautiful smile, their contagious laughter, their intellect, or any traits of their character that made you fall in love with them. These words will mean a lot more: both for you and for your loved one.
You don't have to actually say "I love you" to mean it. Say how much you appreciate your significant other and everything that they've done for you, and continue doing every single day. Thank them when they help you, or simply because you're thankful to have them in your life.
